In the north of Central African Republic, you can find the Sahelo-Sudanian zone. On the south part of CAR, you can spot the equatorial forest zone. It also has Sudano-Guinean savannas.
In the end of 19th century, Central African Republic was colonized by France. In 1960, it earned the independence from France. Then several autocratic leaders ruled CAR.
In 1993, the people in CAR had their own first multiparty democratic election. The presidential seat was grabbed by Ange-Félix Patassé. In 2003 coup, General François Bozizé removed Patassé from the presidential seat.
In 2004, there was Central African Republic Bush War. In 2007 and 2011, the peace treaty was signed. In December 2012, there was dispute between the Christian, Muslim factions and government. In 2013 and 2014, there was religious and ethnic cleaning happened in the country.
Central Africa republic is considered as one of the poorest countries in the world.
Even though it is very poor, actually the country is a home to various mineral deposits and resources such as gold, crude oil, hydropower, lumber, uranium reserves and diamonds.
The level of human development in Central African Republic is very low. It was placed in 185th ranking based on the human development index in 2013.
Capital City: Bangui, or Bangî in Sango, formerly written Bangi in English, is the capital and largest city of the Central African Republic.
